If you're in the heart of New York's Financial District and craving a taste of Cuba, look no further than Sophie's Cuban Cuisine - Financial District. This vibrant spot on 76 Fulton St offers a dynamic dining experience that combines the bold, flavorful tastes of Cuban cuisine with the bustling energy of downtown Manhattan.

The moment you walk through the doors of Sophie's Cuban Cuisine - Financial District, you're greeted with the warm, inviting aroma of slow-roasted meats and freshly prepared spices. The restaurant's atmosphere perfectly mirrors the culture it represents - lively, colorful, and full of personality. Whether you're a New Yorker or a visitor to the city, stepping into this eatery feels like a mini-vacation to Havana, offering a unique escape with each bite.

One of the standout features of Sophie's Cuban Cuisine is its wide-ranging menu, designed to satisfy every type of craving. From the tender, juicy Cuban sandwiches to the rich, flavorful ropa vieja, the dishes are crafted with authenticity in mind. The Cuban sandwich, served with marinated pork, Swiss cheese, and pickles on freshly baked bread, has become a customer favorite, known for its perfect balance of flavors and satisfying crunch. For those who prefer a heartier meal, the ropa vieja - a slow-cooked beef stew with peppers, onions, and a rich tomato sauce - is a must-try. It's comfort food at its finest, made even better with a side of crispy plantains or yucca fries.

Vegetarian diners will also find plenty of options to enjoy. The black beans and rice, served with tangy, garlicky sauces, are a popular side dish, while the tostones (fried green plantains) provide a crispy, savory contrast to the other softer textures on the plate. For something lighter, the ceviche is a refreshing choice, bursting with citrusy flavors and fresh seafood.

What truly sets Sophie's Cuban Cuisine - Financial District apart is its commitment to using high-quality, fresh ingredients. Each dish is thoughtfully prepared with care, allowing the vibrant, authentic flavors of Cuba to shine through. The restaurant takes pride in supporting local suppliers, ensuring that every meal not only tastes great but is also a step toward sustainability.

Sophie's doesn't just excel in food - the drinks are a highlight as well. The cocktail menu features classic Cuban concoctions like the mojito, made with fresh mint and rum, and the daiquiri, which is served ice-cold and perfectly balanced. If you’re in the mood for something more unique, the Cubanito - a fusion of rum, grapefruit soda, and lime - is a refreshing twist on a classic.

For those looking to experience the best of Cuban culture without leaving the city, Sophie's Cuban Cuisine - Financial District delivers. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, often going the extra mile to explain the menu or offer suggestions based on your tastes. The service is quick and attentive, ensuring that your dining experience is smooth and enjoyable from start to finish.

  • We happened to be in the area, got hungry and found this place. We love Cuban food so we definitely want to give it a try. It was late afternoon, early dinner time, guess a lot of food including oxtails were either gone or they were not ready yet. There were not many options. The salmon and chicken legs were decent, a little on the tough side but they’re delicious, the sweet plantains were good. Their green sauce was amazing, the freshness and spiciness of the sauce simply pushed the flavor of the food into next level. Happy with their service. Decent prices given it is in downtown, can be a little lower because it’s more like a fast food type restaurant

  • One of the few places that makes real good chicken soup. I’m talking about hearty and flavorful with real damn chicken.

  • Their empanadas are delicious. We love the beef, chicken, cheese, and guava and cheese ones. The fillings are generous and super tasty. My favorite is the beef bc it has green olives in it and is full of flavor. We also tried their mango, papaya, and passion fruit smoothies. The mango was our favorite, but they were all yummy. Everyone in the store is friendly and efficient. The store itself is clean. We sat there tasting different empanadas and enjoyed the atmosphere. We look forward to going back and trying their different foods.

  • Grilled Chicken w/ Yellow Rice was a total comfort meal—those juicy, grilled chicken pieces with spiced yellow rice, savory beans, and sweet plantains hit the spot. Sophie's Cuban Cuisine made my lunchtime awesome with this flavorful dish. Delicious.

  • Loved the authentic Cuban flavors! The pork was perfectly seasoned and tender, the white rice was fluffy, and the potatoes were deliciously crisp and flavorful. Great home-style taste and very friendly service — I’ll definitely come back again!

  • Come here pretty often for a hearty lunch. Let me say, it is always delicious! I have had the Oxtail, the chicken quarter and the Pernil, and all have been tasty and fresh. Make sure you try their yucca, its sublime. They have a lunch special as well which is reasonably priced for the are. Great service, very fast and responsive to questions.
